Welcome to the Multilingua Language Caravan, a unique platform dedicated to exploring language in a broader and more dynamic context. Our mission is to bridge the gap between language education and its diverse applications, including art, technology, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and project-based learning.


Currently in development, our website primarily focuses on Arabic content, reflecting my personal background and expertise. However, the resources, insights, and strategies shared here are designed to benefit a wide range of language educators. Whether you teach foreign languages, heritage languages, English as an Additional Language (EAL), or English as a mother tongue, you’ll find valuable tools and inspiration to enhance your teaching practice.

Get to know us
Dr. Fatima Khaled
Dr. Fatima Khaled is the Head Teacher of the Peace School in North London, a complementary school that provides Arabic language and cultural education to over 100 bilingual students. She is dedicated to cross-curricular, project-based learning approaches that foster emotional engagement, student agency, and voice.
Dr. Khaled has been an active participant in the Critical Connections: Multilingual Digital Storytelling Project (2012–ongoing), led by Goldsmiths, University of London. As part of this project, she developed and implemented a cross-curricular resource titled Language in Art and the Work of Ali Omar Ermes, which integrates art with Arabic language teaching.
Passionate about her field, Dr. Khaled regularly contributes to professional development events for Arabic teachers in the UK and abroad, with a particular focus on the needs of heritage language learners. She collaborates with various national organisations to enhance language teaching approaches and is a member of the Association for Language Learning Council. She also works with Scottish CILT to advance language education.
Internationally, Dr. Khaled partners with Qatar Foundation International (QFI) and Arabic teachers in Australia to support both heritage and non-heritage learners. She holds an EdD (Doctorate in Education) and continues to make significant contributions to the field of language education.


Dr.Jim Anderson
Dr Jim Anderson is a Researcher in language and culture education and critical and creative approaches to pedagogy. His work focuses on: theories and methods of second language learning and bilingualism, including Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL); multilingualism and new literacies; and language policy. Underlying this is a commitment to an integrated and inclusive approach to language and literacy education incorporating the areas of foreign and community/heritage language learning as well as English as an Additional Language and English mother tongue.
Research Interests
Jim’s recent research has focused on the development of integrated and inclusive approaches to language teaching looking in particular at appropriate pedagogies for community/heritage language learners studying in mainstream and complementary school contexts. He has directed two projects on behalf of the Nuffield Foundation. The first (2004-2007) led to the creation of Curriculum Guides for Arabic, Mandarin, Panjabi, Tamil and Urdu, published by CILT, The National Centre for Languages. The second (2009-2011) investigated creativity in the community languages classroom from the perspectives of pedagogy and professional development of teachers.
